Annual Robotics Competition

May 4, 2024 9:00am - 12:00pm
Event Admission is Free

With growing interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) by students and educators alike, the National Museum of the Pacific War and the Gillespie County 4 H Robotic Club are partnering to hold the annual robotic competition. The contest will be held on Saturday, May 4th from 9:00am -12:00pm in the Historic Nimitz Gallery Ballroom located at 340 E. Main Street in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Participants will program Lego Mindstorm EV3 robotic kits to carry out certain missions across a mat designed to look like many of the islands where key battles took place in the Pacific during WWII. During the competition, teams will also attempt a number of tasks using their robots including clearing the jungle to build an airstrip, delivering Atomic Bomb components, knocking out enemy bunkers, and raising the American Flag on Iwo Jima.

This contest is designed to encourage students dive deeper into the technological advances of WWII and how they are relevant today. Not only will you learn a little about the war in the Pacific, but you will also have fun!
