This Nimitz Minitz is our second and final episode on the military roles that women pioneered in the Second World War. Women volunteered to serve to ensure our country’s freedom and to bring their loved ones home from the battlefront. You’ll learn about the Coast Guard’s SPARs who served in a wide variety of capacities that freed up men to deploy abroad. The Army created the WASP program which accepted 1000 female, already licensed pilots for service out of 25,000 women who applied. You’ll learn about the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve and one of the oldest living female Marines (at the time of this publication) who turned 104 years old in April 2020.
