Our Approach to Artificial Intelligence
The National Museum of the Pacific War takes seriously our responsibility to preserve, safeguard, and convey the history of the Pacific Theater in World War II. Accuracy, authenticity, and public trust are central to that responsibility.
As artificial intelligence becomes more prevalent, we recognize that visitors may have questions about how it is used in our exhibits. The historical research, interpretation, and content presented throughout our galleries are developed by Museum staff, historians, scholars, and our exhibition partners using established historical sources and scholarship.
None of the historical images presented in our galleries were generated using AI, and the on-screen characters in the George H.W. Bush Gallery are portrayed by real actors representing historical figures.
AI is used in a limited visitor-facing application within the Propaganda Filter interactive, where a visitor’s photograph is incorporated into a personalized propaganda-style poster.
Technology may support specific visitor experiences, but the history we present remains grounded in primary and secondary sources, scholarship, and human expertise.
We remain committed to accuracy, authenticity, and transparency in how we tell the stories entrusted to us.
