While the Soviet Union was a western ally during WWII, they engaged in espionage nonetheless and sought U.S. military information by recruiting spies. During the Manhattan Project, four Los Alamos insiders stole secret information and provided it to them. This is the story of their treachery. The Soviet Union detonated its own bomb in 1949; it is unknown to what degree the Project Y Spies' information might have accelerated the Soviet's bomb program.
