Outpost: War Machines
During the Pacific War, tanks played a vital role in supporting infantry as they advanced against fortified Japanese defenses. Tank crews relied on teamwork, coordination, and technical skill to operate effectively under intense and often dangerous conditions.
This FREE Outpost program offers visitors an opportunity to learn about armored warfare in the Pacific and explore the Museum’s M5 Stuart tank. Guests can examine real artifacts while gaining insight into tank crews, their responsibilities, and how armored vehicles supported infantry operations during the war.
Outpost programs are educational, drop-in experiences held on select Saturdays on the Nimitz Platz at 340 E Main St, Fredericksburg, TX 78624. Visitors of all ages are welcome to stop by, ask questions, and engage directly with history.
