Outpost: STRIKE!: The 1945-46 Strike Wave
During World War II, workers across the country agreed not to go on strike for the duration of the war. Once the fighting ended, the economy slumped as millions of men returned home from military service, and strikes soon spread across the nation as workers demanded better wages.
This FREE Outpost program offers visitors an opportunity to learn more about the millions of workers who went on strike after World War II. Guests can explore real artifacts while gaining insight into postwar labor unrest and the challenges faced by American workers during this period.
Outpost programs are educational, drop-in experiences held on select Saturdays on the Nimitz Platz at 340 E Main St, Fredericksburg, TX 78624. Visitors of all ages are welcome to stop by, ask questions, and engage directly with history.
