Outpost: Skyjumpers: Paratroopers in the Pacific War
While airborne units such as the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions are well known for their operations in Europe during World War II, fewer people are familiar with airborne forces that fought in the Pacific. Units like the 11th Airborne Division and the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment carried out daring missions under vastly different and challenging conditions.
This FREE Outpost program offers visitors an opportunity to learn about Pacific War paratroopers and the unique challenges they faced. Guests can explore real artifacts while gaining insight into airborne tactics, specialized gear and weapons, and how jungle terrain and island warfare shaped airborne operations in the Pacific.
Outpost programs are educational, drop-in experiences held on select Saturdays on the Nimitz Platz at 340 E Main St, Fredericksburg, TX 78624. Visitors of all ages are welcome to stop by, ask questions, and engage directly with history.
