Outpost: In the Navy
The Pacific War posed a unique challenge due to the vast size of the Pacific Ocean. The United States Navy played a critical role in meeting that challenge, from carrier battles such as Midway to defending ships from kamikaze attacks and transporting Marines during major campaigns like Okinawa.
This FREE Outpost program offers visitors an opportunity to learn about life at sea and the many roles sailors held during the war. Guests can interact with and handle real Pacific War artifacts while gaining insight into naval service, daily routines aboard ship, and the Navy’s essential role in achieving victory in the Pacific.
Outpost programs are educational, drop-in experiences held on select Saturdays on the Nimitz Platz at 340 E Main St, Fredericksburg, TX 78624. Visitors of all ages are welcome to stop by, ask questions, and engage directly with history.
