On January 31st, 1944, soldiers of the Army's 7th Infantry Division cautiously stepped onto the artillery-blasted shores of Kwajalein. Despite many of the defenders being killed in the pre-invasion bombardment, the 7th was still in for a hard fight against what defenders did remain.
