Annual Robotics Competition : Operation Pacific Assault
With a growing emphasis on Science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) the National Museum of the Pacific War and the Gillespie County 4 H Robotic Club are partnering to hold the third annual robotic competition on Saturday May 1st from 9:00-12:00 at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office for Gillespie County (95 Frederick Rd, Fredericksburg). The students will be using Lego Mindstorm EV3 robotic kits and programing them to carry out certain missions as they Island Hop across the Pacific.
The competition mat is designed to look like a number of islands where key battles took place during WWII in the Pacific.
During the competition, teams will attempt a number of tasks using their robots. Some of the tasks include clearing the jungle in order to build an airstrip, delivering Atomic Bomb components and knocking out enemy bunkers. The islands that the landings will take place on are Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and Tinian.
This contest is designed to encourage students to look into the advances of technology that took place during WWII and those of today and to have fun! For more information, please email us at: email@example.com
