Cover to Cover: A Look at the Asiatic Fleet (Temporary Exhibit)

This exhibit is free to the public and will be open during museum hours 9 am - 5 pm.

Overview

This temporary exhibit explores an overlooked aspect of stamp collecting (naval covers) through the seldom remembered part of the US Navy: the Asiatic Fleet. These artistically embellished mailing envelopes, postmarked aboard ships, became collectible almost from inception. In the exhibit, you will see naval covers from thirteen Asiatic Fleet ships plus a variety of corresponding photographs and scale models. There is also a special coloring corner where you can color your own naval cover.

This temporary exhibit is free to the public and is open during regular Museum hours of 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Wednesdays through Mondays (closed Tuesdays). Located in the Temporary Gallery at the George Bush Gallery at the National Museum of the Pacific War it is on display until May 1, 2022.
