During World War II, the U.S. Navy needed a way to fend off enemy aircraft, but starting out, that was no easy task-it was like shooting in the dark, even if it was daytime! We needed to improve the accuracy of anti-aircraft guns, and this led to an innovation called the Radio Proximity Fuze.
