Museum History

We are the only institution in the U.S dedicated exclusively to telling the story of the Pacific and Asiatic Theaters in World War II.

The Admiral Nimitz Foundation formed a partnership with the Texas Historical Commission to preserve the historic resources of the National Museum of the Pacific War and guide the expansion of the Museum.

The National Museum of the Pacific War is one of twenty State Historic Sites administered by the Texas Historical Commission.

The Texas Historical Commission (THC) is the state agency for historic preservation, consulting with citizens and organizations to preserve Texas' architectural, archeological and cultural landmarks. The agency is recognized nationally for its preservation programs.
